Release Notes: 0.8.1 beta Buxfix: Increased the number of coordinates permitted in any notam entry to 64 to accommodate larger entries. Note - to install this update, copy the jar file into the notamview directory and overwrite the existing file. If you haven't already installed Notamview, install 0.8.0 first. 0.8.1 beta Buxfix: Changed the handling of NOTAM data to allow for NOTAMs over 4000 lines and/or 256 entries. Corrected the out and return distance calculation - was exactly half. Fixed the inability to save the 'can't draw' option for circles of influence. This is now the recommended setting as it displays anything that can't be drawn as well as selected NOTAMS. Added the ability to select a default setting for which FIRs to download in Options. Note - to install this update, copy the jar file into the notamview directory and overwrite the existing file. If you haven't already installed Notamview, install 0.8.0 first. 0.8.0 beta Major changes: The new Q-Line feature is supported and several changes to the options and menues allow significant flexibility in displaying Circles of Influence. All NOTAM entries in the tree view are now ordered within thier classification to assist in finding specific entries. The raw notam data can now be searched for text to find specific data. The decoding of danger area references has been improved to catch more entries in notam text. Still can't handle examples such as: EG D319A D where D is supposed to be EG D319D. Help system updated to reflect functionality changes. 0.7.2 beta Bugfix: Increase NOTAM storage array to hold the larger aerodrome PIB. Change default PIB filenames to use the aerodrome PIB. Add a check for updates feature to determine whether a newer version exists. Add options dialogue checkbox to disable this is desired. 0.7 beta Makor changes: The parsing engine has been redesigned to increase the number of correctly drawn notams. In particular it can now parse notam areas with curves and can parse notams that combine areas and circles. A new 'user waypoint' feature has been added. You can now add up to 256 extra waypoints to augment the icao or bga set you use. There is a dialogue that allows you to edit these or you can edit the file by hand. Turnpoint names on the map can be selected to be the short id or the long descriptor in the options dialogue. The help system has been improved to cover all current features. The airspace and bga turnpoint files have been updated to 2005 versions. This release fixes the sub 1km issue where the decimal point was missed and 0.25km became 25km. 0.6.2 beta Bugfix: Increased number of coordinates permitted in a notam entry to 40. This overcomes a problem with certain notam entries. Trap corrupt data files and prevent loading error. This corrects a problem where an ISP returns an error page instead of the correct http error code when a problem prevents the download page being reached. 0.6.1 beta Bugfix: Fixed bug in proxy support which caused the download of both FIRs at the same time to fail. Fixed bug in map linewidth, causing poor rendering of lines during print. Fixed bug where the selection of ICAO turnpoints didn't appear to be saved through a shutdown. Fixed bug where ICAO turnpoints didn't generate a valid coordinate. Fixed bug where closing the options dialogue only partially cleared an existing task causing an exception on redraw. Others: Page size selection for printing only appears to be an issue under Linux - Windows works fine. This is a Java issue. 0.6.0 beta Major Changes: A print option is now provided to generate a hard-copy of both the map and some or all of the notam text. The amount of data printed is configured using the Print Setup on the toolbar. This information is not persistant and will revert to a default on each run of the program. By default, the print will only list those notam entries visible on the section of map on the screen. This can be changed through the Setup dialogue. It is also possible to label each of the visible notams with its id. This is somewhat primitive and can result in only partially visible text. Where a notam lists one or more danger areas as being active or inactive, NotamView will now highlight the danger areas mentioned. This is not guaranteed to catch every area mentioned due to the use of abbreviations. Selected notams are now also identified with a cross to make identification easier. Known Bugs Selection of the page size appears not to be reliable. The map is printed with quite thin lines which may be difficult to see on some printers. 0.5.1 beta Bugfix: When accessing the notam data from the internet using a proxy requireing a password, the username and password field stayed inactive. This is now fixed. If multiple areas in a notam entry are not closed with an ORIGIN statement the areas were joined together and not correctly closed. This is now fixed 0.5 beta Major changes: Control panel removed and all its functionality transferred to the toolbar buttons. Complete rework of the storage of notam entries within the program using a tree based viewer to organise and display the data. Both UK FIRs can be obtained/displayed at the same time. New viewer window to see the notam detail without loosing the map. Also displays all notam entries selected on the map (if, for example, two are coincedent). Colour coding of raw data to assist in determining what is displayed or active. Task dialogue now calculates the task distance and, if possible, the triangle distance. Task dialogue offers selection of turnpoints by long name as well as trigraph or ICAO ID. Turnpoints can be displayed on the map. Identifiers appear at higher magnifications. A new, more detailed coastline is now available from the options menu. The old map can still be used on slower machines. Known bugs: Areas still not handled perfectly. Ability to select individual notam types (OTH, NAVW etc) doesn't work Download progress reporting is unreliable. 0.4 beta Major changes: The help system now works, simply select Help from the menubar. Tasks can now be configured using ICAO airfield identifiers. Minor changes: The task dialogue has been tidied up a bit. The display of the processed data in Tim Newport-Peace format has been removed as it was only really useful for testing. Known Bugs: The status line should indicate progress during downloads but doesn't keep pace with events. May not close an area on the map if the notam does not contain 'ORIGIN' Tabbing through the turnpoints doesn't work. You have to select with the mouse. Bugs cleared: 0.3 beta Right clicking on the map will now re-centre the map about the clicked point. A cross is now drawn on the map to denote the home point. The program will automatically load the last saved notam when it starts. If no previously saved file exists, no data will be displayed. The current notam data is optionally saved to disk on exit - see line above. The age of the Notam data is displayed on the titlebar. This corresponds to the time since the Notam was issued, not when it was downloaded. Any change to program options thet influences the display is updated when the options dialogue closes. NotamView can now be configured to use a proxy server to access the Internet if this is required. If the proxy requires a password, a dialogue will pop up. Only basic authentication is supported. Note that there must be an address and port number in the options fields even if this feature is not used. Setting 127.0.0.1 and 8080 is the default. The save filename in the options dialogue now specifies the name of the file used to save the formatted data. The raw data filename cannot be changed. Known bugs May not close an area on the map if the notam does not contain 'ORIGIN' Tabbing through the turnpoints doesn't work. You have to select with the mouse. 0.2 beta Moved display switches for RAC and OTH to main control panel for neatness Coordinate detect routines re-written to improve detection. Can now display multiple circles and areas associated with one entry. Can now select areas on the map (click near the logical centre of the area) Known bugs Will not work through a proxy. May not close an area on the map if the notam does not contain 'ORIGIN' The save filename specified in the options dilogue doesn't do anything yet. Tabbing through the turnpoints doesn't work. You have to select with the mouse. 0.1 beta First release. Reads Notam data for London and Scottish FIR from NATS or data from location of user's choice. Allows time filter of validity for today, tomorrow or user specified time period. Draws outline map of UK and superimposes NAWV entries. Also can choose to display RAV and OTH entries. Item selected on map is shown in detail in separate window. Item selected in detail window is selected on map. User can specify and draw a multi point task using BGA turnpoints - drawn on map. Unedited raw data available for reference. Can save raw data and processed data to file (currently cannot specify file names) Turnpoint file can be updated. Known bugs Can't handle more than one circle or more than one area defined per entry. Will not work through proxy.
